Simply put, 2012 was a great year at the movies. The kind of year buffs and critics pray for with an even stream of unique, impressive and memorable films across the board genre-wise, blockbusters and independents alike. A year wherein even each of the summer superhero tent-poles proved to be at the least ‘very good’, (no Green Lantern type cinematic flops in sight), schlock n’ shock king Quentin Tarantino returned with a bloody, hilarious Western, and one-man award factory Daniel Day-Lewis strutted before Spielberg’s cameras as President Lincoln, would no doubt seem to be a charmed one. Here we try to pare down the 2012’s many cinematic blessings to an essential five. They are:
